Compress image

Make a PNG, JPEG or WebP smaller while keeping the same dimensions. Keep the original format, or switch to WebP for a bigger reduction.

To compress an image, choose an output format and upload the file. We re-encode it smaller at the same dimensions and you download the result. No sign-up needed to try it.

How to use it

Pick the output format, upload your image, and download the smaller file. The dimensions stay the same — only the file size changes.

When it helps

Large images slow down sites and messages and eat storage. Compressing cuts the size while keeping the image usable.

Common questions

Why did my PNG barely get smaller?

Because PNG is a lossless format — it cannot be squeezed much without changing format. Pick WebP under output format and you will see a real difference, with transparency preserved.

Does this change the image dimensions?

No. Compressing only reduces the file size. To change the width and height, use the resize tool.

What happens to data like where the photo was taken?

It is removed when the file is saved. The result carries no EXIF data and no GPS coordinates, which is useful before publishing any photo.
