Zakat calculator

Work out the zakat on your wealth: enter your total zakatable wealth and the gold price per gram today, and see at once whether you have reached the nisab and how much zakat is due. The rate is 2.5% and the nisab follows the gold standard. Everything is computed in your browser.

To calculate zakat on wealth, enter your total zakatable wealth and the current gold price per gram. The tool computes the nisab from the gold standard of 85 grams, compares your wealth against it, and applies the 2.5% rate when the threshold is reached. It is free, needs no sign-up, and your numbers never leave your browser.

How to use it

Enter the total of your zakatable wealth, such as cash, gold, and trade goods, then enter the current gold price per gram in riyals. The result appears as you type: the nisab threshold worked out from 85 grams of gold, whether your wealth has reached it, and the zakat amount at 2.5%.

When it helps

Zakat is one of the five pillars, and getting the figure right matters. The nisab is a moving target because it is tied to the gold price, and zakat only becomes due once the wealth has stayed at or above that threshold for a full lunar year. The tool does the threshold arithmetic and the 2.5% for you without a spreadsheet.

Common questions

Why do I enter the gold price myself?

The nisab moves with the gold price, which changes daily. The tool deliberately fetches no live price: you enter the price of the day from the source you trust, and the calculation stays on your device.

What is the nisab?

It is the minimum amount of wealth that makes zakat due. This calculator uses the gold standard: the value of 85 grams of gold, which is the measure most commonly applied in the Gulf.

Does the calculator account for the lunar year?

No. Zakat becomes due only after a full lunar year (hawl) has passed over wealth at or above the nisab. The tool works out the amount; the year condition is yours to check.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser. Your numbers are never uploaded, stored, or shared.
